| My generator set failed. When it is starting, the engin stops after about one second of work and the "low oil alert lamp" lights. But the oil level is ok.
What must I check in order to find the fault?
Thanks for your answers. |

there are 2 things to check
1) pull off the wire from the oil switch. if the machine runs without stopping let it run for 10 - 20 seconds but then shut it down and do not use it. If this works then the oil switch COULD be at fault or you have a low oil pressure problem. Replace the oil switch and try again if the fault persists then the oil pressure is low. if you have a pressure gauge remove the oil switch fit a pressure gauge and there should be 6 - 7 bar of oil pressure.
2) if the machine still shuts down with the oil switch dis-connected then its likely that the machine is not generating. This could be the AVR, the brushes or a fault on the alternator.
Let me know how you get on

Hello REB,
Saddened for for this long silence, I looked for the origin of the breakdown. It was a diode and a relay which(who) were roasted. After replacement, the electric generator starts but generates no more electric current: when the contact is put, the voltmeter climbs in ~100volt then falls again in 0. (The generator should supply with the 220v).
What maybe the origin of this problem?
Where may I get myself a plan of cablage?
Tanks for your answers. |

Not generating is one of 3 reasons
1) the carbon brushs to the rotor have failed
2) The AVR has failed
3) The alternator has failed
Remove the exhaust and then the end panel of the machine
The brushes are at the 12 oclock position.
Remove the brushes and check for damage or broken wires
If all is OK refit the brushes and then check the resistance of the rotor. It should read 38 - 50 ohms tag to tag across the burshes without the wires fitted.
There is a plug with 4 wires in it. Either 2 blue and 2 yellow or 2 brown and 2 green.
un snap the plug, the resistance across the alternator with the 2 blues is about 1 ohm. the resistance across the 2 yellows is 0.5 ohms.
Do these checks let me know
