| I purchaced recently one KDE12 STAF. Everything seems to be fine but when I changed oil for the first time I realised that it was requied 4 Ltr of oil to reach the upper mark of dipstick instead of 2.27 Ltr mentioning in the manual. It seems that 4 Ltr is reasonable for the KM2V80 engine, but is this correct? |

when I oil up a new machine its normally 2.45 litres. 4 litres does seem quite a lot. Is the machine on a flat surface? I dont know what else to suggest. run it for a SHORT time and check it again

Thanks for your comment. Yes it is fully flat surface and I changed oil filter as well but does not justify the difference. Since the oil change the D/G set run for another 18 hours and there is a very litle oil consumption, that means the oil level is just 3 mm below max. When the set was purchased the oil level was also up to max and during commissioning they were insisting to keep it always to the top. Changing the oil I used a small container of 3 Ltr and as you can imagine it was overflowed to my surprise but after that I realized the quantity required. My only assumption is to have a wrong oil dipstick.. This weekend I will be on site, so I can get a photo of the dipstick and send it by e-mail to make the comparison. Thanks any way. |

Just to add that I spoke with the local dealer who insist to top up the oil up to the max. mark of oil dipstick. He said that if I will put just 2.3 Ltr then most probably the oil sensor will alarm / stop the engine! I am totaly confused now... |

I have put fuel in and oiled some units for the UK importer today. I was putting in 2.45 litres! the low oil sensor is a low pressure sensor not a low oil level so I would not like to be on the sensor all the time.
i will measure an oil dip stick tomorrow if I remember
