Symptoms : Generator starts. Voltmeter indicates +200 VAC. Oil pressure warning light illuminates. Relay on the Oil Pressure warning light board clicks. VAC output drops to zero. Timescale of +/- 1 second. History : Possible back-feed from mains AC to generator. Replaced the regulator box. Tested and disconnected oil pressure switch. Start by removing the exhaust system Check the resistance across the brushes. It should be 30 - 40 ohms. This must be in spec. Then if you are competent to do so Connect 12V+ to the LEFT HAND BRUSH TERMINAL Connect 12- to the RIGHT HAND BRUSH TERMINAL power the machine up and it May show 140 - 160V on the voltmeter. Check across the 2 yellow wires going into the alternator they should be about 65 - 80 V ac Check the 2 blue wires they should be 10 - 18V ac Any failure in any of these tests indicates a blown alternator.
